![]() A deeper reading could encourage critical thinking by comparing the different pastimes of the neighbors or, ultimately, what it means to be home. This offers a perfect prompt for young children to create extensions of other stories they have read or heard. The book is intriguing in that it contains twice-told stories, once as they are observed and second as the bunny imagines them. Award-winning author and illustrator Akiko Miyakoshi's softly focused black-and-white illustrations with just a touch of neutral color have a dreamlike quality, just right for nodding off to sleep with. This beautiful picture book captures the magical wonder a child feels at being outside in the night. ?Are the party guests saying goodnight? Is the person on the phone getting ready for bed And what of the footsteps that can be heard in the street as the bunny falls asleep? Will she take the last train home But the bunny continues to wonder about the neighbors' activities. When they reach home, the father rabbit tucks the bunny into bed. ?Most of our neighbors are already home.? The bunny can see their lights in the windows, and hear and smell what they might be doing: talking on the phone, pulling a pie out of the oven, having a party, saying goodbye. ?My mother carries me through the quiet streets, ? the bunny explains. Item #301681 ISBN: 9781771386630 A mother rabbit and her young bunny are on their way home in the dark night. The Way Home in the Night has been designed for children ages 3 to 7 years of age. Clarissa pinkola books5/21/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Everyone who can read should read this book.” -Maya Angelou The work shows the reader how glorious it is to be daring, to be caring, and to be women. “I am grateful to Women Who Run with the Wolves and to Dr. An oracle from one who knows.” -Alice Walker It is a gift of profound insight, wisdom, and love. “ Women Who Run with the Wolves isn’t just another book. Fertile and life-giving, it is a psychology of women in the truest sense, a knowing of the soul. Estés has created a new lexicon for describing the female psyche. Through the stories and commentaries in this remarkable book, we retrieve, examine, love, and understand the Wild Woman, and hold her against our deep psyches as one who is both magic and medicine.ĭr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés unfolds rich intercultural myths, fairy tales, folk tales, and stories, many from her own traditions, in order to help women reconnect with the fierce, healthy, visionary attributes of this instinctual nature. For though the gifts of wildish nature belong to us at birth, society’s attempt to “civilize” us into rigid roles has muffled the deep, life-giving messages of our own souls. She is the Wild Woman, who represents the instinctual nature of women. Within every woman there lives a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. ![]() “A deeply spiritual book honors what is tough, smart and untamed in women.”- The Washington Post Book World.Book club pick for Emma Watson’s Our Shared Shelf. ![]()

Snapshot by Brandon Sanderson5/21/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() I’m sure most readers would cry out Minority Report, but I think this found a different way to take a similar concept. World building: This is why I’m glad the film rights to this story were optioned. It’s been a while since I’ve listened to the Audible version of the book, but Sanderson has a knack for helping a reader fall into the world without beating said reader to death with paragraphs of exposition. Sure, the plot twist was as surprising as any Sanderson novel, but what I gained on the satisfaction of a clever plot twist, I lost in association with a character.Įxposition: Sanderson does this well. What disappointed me about this was the end. He’s a man trying to prove himself in every way, but the path he’s chosen isn’t one that will prove what matters most. Davis is the more compelling and interesting character (he’s the main character after all). I found myself reading the book more just to find out what he wouldn’t do with the power he had. ![]() Chaz isn’t likable at all, but that’s what makes him compelling. Mystery layers upon mystery (as is typical of a Sanderson novel) until they all seem to click into place with truths that shake the world.Ĭharacter: Davis and Chaz are interesting enough characters. They seem to be going through their day as usual when they stumble upon a mass murder. ![]() Spolier Free Summary: Snapshotby Brandon Sandersonis a short story about two detectives, Davis and Chaz, who operate with limitless authority in a re-created “snapshot” of a past day. John grogan e marley5/20/2023 ![]() His acts and behaviors are forgiven, however, since it is clear that he has a heart of gold and is merely living within his nature. Marley routinely fails to "get the idea" of what humans expect of him at one point, mental illness is suggested as a plausible explanation for his behavior. He is strong, powerful, endlessly hungry, eager to be active, and often destructive of their property (but completely without malice). ![]() Marley, a yellow Labrador Retriever, is described as a high-strung, boisterous, and somewhat uncontrolled dog. Told in first-person narrative, the book portrays Grogan and his family's life during the 13 years that they lived with their dog Marley, and the relationships and lessons from this period. It was subsequently adapted by the author into three separate books, as well as into a comedy-drama film released in 2008. The dog is poorly behaved and destructive, and the book covers the issues this causes in the family as they learn to accept him in addition to their grief following Marley's death. ![]() Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog is an autobiographical book by journalist John Grogan, published in 2005, about the 13 years he and his family spent with their yellow Labrador Retriever, Marley. ![]()

Batman arkham asylum dave mckean5/20/2023 ![]() Even with the inclusion of unlockable concept art however, there’s so much amazing artwork that’s never seen by fans, and few games are as beautifully designed as the Batman: Arkham series, so let’s take a look at 15 eye-popping pieces of unused art from Batman: Arkham Asylum. ![]() ![]() This is likely why unlockable concept art is present in several video games - not only does it give players a tangible reward for game progression and collectible hunting, but makes the blood, sweat and tears poured into the project by concept artists feel all the more worth it. Sadly though, the vast majority of concept art created for a video game goes completely unseen, as not only do many of the designs grow and change throughout production, but several designs for a single character or location eventually have to be whittled down to just one, with the surplus designs being scrapped in the process. ![]() While it’s obvious that creating a video game from the ground up requires an insane amount of work from hundreds upon hundreds of people - and sometimes even more than that - people often forget about the sheer amount of artwork created by concept designers in the early stages of a video game’s development. ![]()
